Getting behind

It's been a busy couple days. The posts will be fast and furious the next couple months as we wind down our European adventure and rush to use up gift vouchers and hit the places (new and old) on our bucket list before November.

Yesterday afternoon I took a late lunch and we had tea at Vertigo 42, with stunning views of London from the 42nd floor of Tower 42. Douglas Adams would love this place.

Yesterday evening we decided not to waste all the frou-frou attire we'd donned for tea, and stopped in at Tower Tandoori, which a couple of our friends recommended months ago. It certainly lives up to expectations. I don't recall if I've written up Bangalore in the heart of the City of London, but the food's on par here or maybe a little better. Bangalore's got a nice modern vibe, whereas Tower Tandoori is much more traditional. The service was excellent. We ordered some appetizers off the new Nepalese menu (chicken Momo and spicy lamb ribs with tomato and onion salad), Bombay Aloo, chicken Vindaloo, and Arakhani Murgh. Becca got more than she bargained for with the Vindaloo, because these guys are not effing around with the spices. We closed out the evening with a bottle of Moscato D'asti.

Today, we met for lunch in the rain down at Borough Market. It's been a year and we're still not sick of this place. There's always something new. We tried the liver, bacon, and onion bap at Maria's Market Cafe and were rewarded for our bravery. The liver was quite mild and worked exceptionally well with the salty bacon and hearty onions. The mustard/mayo combination was delicately applied so as not to overpower the other flavors, and the rocket garnish lent a bit of unobtrusive texture. Fantastisch! We also tried the wild boar tortelloni at La Tua Pasta, which had a solid (but not gamey) boar flavor in a delightful sweet tomato sauce. I picked up a brick of brownies to take back to the office and several pots of Pâté Moi to take back to Austin next week and distribute amongst friends and family.

I'll polish up this post with some photos when I have the time.
